Contemporary full purple morocco by Orrock & Romanes (Edinburgh), their binder's ticket to front pastedown, sides ruled and decorated in gilt, spine with raised bands and richly gilt-decorated compartments, gilt inner-dentelles, all edges gilt. Text in German and English. Two title-pages (in German and English), engraved frontispiece and 100 engraved plates. Ex libris Charles Plummer of Middlestead, with his engraved armorial book-plate to front pastedown. Some light rubbing to extremities, boards ever so slightly bowed, occasional light foxing, one plate amateurishly coloured, generally a very good copy in a handsome Scottish binding.
