First deluxe editions, first impressions, attractively housed in the publisher's slipcase. "As each new novel came out, Bloomsbury would release a new box set 'widening each time'" (Errington, p. 15). Produced for the gift book market, the deluxe Harry Potters remain much sought after by collectors, being larger than the trade counterparts and handsomely cased in full cloth featuring the cover designs in a pictorial onlay. Errington A1(d); 2(e); 7(c), 9(b). Four works, large octavo. Original red, blue, green, and purple cloth, spines and front covers lettered in gilt, pictorial colour labels on front covers, colour endpapers, edges gilt, silk bookmarkers. All housed in the publisher's red cloth slipcase with gilt lettering on spine and illustration of the Hogwarts Express on sides. Bright bindings with occasional light bumps and rubbing, Goblet of Fire with two superficial scratches to fore edge of book block, all contents clean; slipcase slightly rubbed at edges, gilt unfaded: a near-fine set.
