First UK Edition. Publisher's dark blue cloth with silver lettering to the spine. Tan end-papers, red top-stain. This is the Heinemann First Edition from 1948. A near fine (or better) copy without inscriptions. Laid in is the rare advertising material for 'A Gun For Sale' and review for 'The Heart of the Matter'. The 9s 6d D/W is in VG condition with a touch of wear to the extremities, a couple of edge tears with associated creases but with the spine un-faded and with bright white lettering. With the RARE GREEN WRAP-AROUND BAND which has had a small repair to the front. RARE WITH THE BAND and scarce with these attributes. Seller Inventory # 355490716337
