VG, minor wear to cloth binding, gilt spine title dulled, back hinge cracked but holding. In 1904, arts educator Frank Alvah Parsons joined the New York School of Art. Half-Leather. Condition: Fair. First Edition. This title is a wonderful historic record of what was deemed to be "good design" in the USA in the first two decades of the 20th century. Illustrated with 68 photographs and diagrams, it has sections on, the principles of decor, historic influences on decor, and the modern house. The book runs to 284 pages, and is half-leather in blue, with five raised bands on the spine. The hinges of the spine are worn, and there is a three inch split down one hinge - though not to the top.
