This is a complete set of three auction catalogues for Sotheby's sales featuring Japanese works of art from the collection of Charles A. Greenfield. March 25, 1998; September 18, 1998; March 24, 1999. Printed in Hong Kong. Part I, 11 x 8.5 inches, Parts II & III, Approx. 10.5 x 8.25 inches. Part I is a hardback with plain black glossy paper binding and with a pristine DJ, with protective transparent over-wrapper. 146 numbered pages, features 33 lots of Japanese inro. Parts II & III are paperbacks with color illustrated glossy wrappers. Wrappers fan slightly. 108 and 188 numbered pages respectively. With 304 and 471 lots of Japanese art, including netsuke, inro, tsuba, zushi, various lacquer ware, and numerous ukiyo-e prints. With color plates, including several full-page. Exceptionally clean inside and out. Gentle semi-crease at top corner of first several pages, else fine. List of prices realized tipped in on rear pages of all three volumes. A Near Fine set of catalogues. Scarce as a complete set. 4 lbs. 3 oz. Charles A. Greenfield [1903-1997] was one of the last surviving members of what might be called the second generation of Japanese art collectors in the West. While Greenfield was a true connoisseur among collectors, he believed strongly that technical and artistic quality were far more important than condition. He began collecting in the late 1930s and he was pleased to lend pieces from his collection for various exhibitions.

I wrap and package very carefully and I ship promptly, usually within 1 business day of a paid order. Almost all items are boxed. USPS Media Mail includes a tracking number, as does Priority Mail. International rates to be determined at time of sale depending on weight and destination; I will contact you regarding shipping costs. I regret the recent increase in rates by USPS for international parcels. Generally speaking, my default shipping fees are set somewhat conservatively. I never seek to make a profit from shipping fees. Delivery is guaranteed for all books and prints, and expensive items are insured as a matter of course, usually without extra charge. Payment, via AbeBooks, by credit card or other method acceptable to AbeBooks.
