First edition, first printing. Original purple cloth lettered in silver to the spine, in the Christopher Foss illustrated dustwrapper. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents, with a previous owner's name in ink to the upper corner of the front free endpaper are otherwise clean and bright throughout. There are a couple of spots to the fore-edge and a single spot to the upper edge of the text block. Complete with the bright and clean dustwrapper that is a little rubbed to the lower spine tip and a small nick to the lower corner of the front panel. Not price-clipped (£2.50 net to the front flap). The central novel in the trilogy of three novels featuring Captain Oswald Bastable as their central protagonist, following 'Warlord of the Air' (1971) and preceding 'The Steel Tsar' (1981). The three novels were later published together as 'A Nomad of the Time Streams'. 'The Land Leviathan' was published simultaneously in a paperback edition (described as a 'Midway edition' on the copyright page) and this hardback ('Casebound') edition.
