FIRST EDITION. Contemp. full calf stamped in gilt; a little marked, hinges cracked, crudely rebacked, black morocco label chipped. Booklabel of John Sparrow & armorial bookplate of Edward Hawke Locker on leading pastedown. William Stevens, 1732-1807, was Treasurer of Queen Anne's Bounty, a scheme to supplement the incomes of poorer clergymen. James Allan Park, 1763-1838, was a KC and Vice-Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. He bore a strong physical resemblance to George III but took a dim view of any comparisons, saying 'King George III was never in Scotland and my mother was never out of it.' Edward Hawke Locker, 1777-1849, was a well-known English watercolourist. Seller Inventory # 101109
