First issue misspelling ''pricipal'' on page 115 of second volume. The author's last completed novel and the only one to be illustrated by Marcus Stone. The plates are engraved by the Dalziel Brothers and W.T. Green. Half red morocco over marbled boards, raised bands. Marbled edges and endpapers.Armorial bookplate Steuart Augustus Sillem on front pastedown and his ownership inscription on verso of front free endpaper. Occasional faint foxing to the plates.
