"The present volume is practically a revised reprint of my little book 'On the Making and Issuing of Books,' which Mr. Elkin Mathews published for me in the spring of last year. The appreciation with which that volume met, and the inquiries I have had for it since the limited edition was exhausted, have encouraged me to re-issue it in a different form, with the addition of many typographical specimens, and a few samples of really good papers suitable for printing purposes. " The included paper specimens are: Machine made: A White shade; B Cream; C Toned; D Antique laid; E Plate paper; F Super calendered; G Enamel surface; and Handmade: H Dutch, Van Gelder; I French; J English, Dickinson; K English, Arnold ; L English, Whatman; M Japanese vellum . Bookplate and signature of Horatio Noble Pym on the front pastedown endpaper. Spine darkened, covers a little marked with two small tears near head of spine, offsetting to endpapers, otherwise Good.
