First edition. Hardback. In publisher s brown pictorial cloth boards. The eight full-page illustrations - which includes the frontispiece - each has a tissue guard that is somewhat foxed. There are other in-text illustrations, one a woodcut. The boards are lightly bumped at the corners, but overall in good condition, with a neat ink written owner s name - dated 1890 - to the half title. 304 pages. 230 x 145 mm (9 x 5� inches).
