Presentation copy from the author, inscribed at the head of the title page: 'Charlotte Jones's' and in the same hand lower down: 'the Gift of the Author 28 June 1768'. This is a pamphlet by the religious controversialist Sir Richard Hill (1733-1808), in defence of six students at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, who were expelled for attending methodist meetings - the pamphlet sparked a paper war with numerous pamphlets being published the same year on the subject.
