This is the second and only subsequent edition of Persian Recreations, or Oriental Stories by Philoxenus Secundus, also 1812. The first edition is recorded at BL, NT & London Library only; this 'new edition' is at the Royal Asiatic Society and V&A only. Stephen Weston,the antiquary known as 'Classic Weston', 1747-1830, was a prolific author of translations from Arabic, Chinese, Persian and French as well as travel books, &c. He was from Exeter and became vicar of Mamhead, Devon This volume includes 29 short tales from the Persian, with a long introduction. Seller Inventory # 100428
