pp.51, [70] including 4 col. plates, 30 b/w. plates of pollen grain drawings, plus 6 full-pages of hand-coloured pollen loads (a total of 120 different pollen colours are illustrated). 8vo. Hardback. Owners neat signature (dated Jan. 1953) and charming stamp to front paste down. Occ. dates written in pencil opposite colour samples indicating when the plant in question is a source of pollen. Some spotting to top-edge of text block o/w. a fine hardback in thor. vg. dw. Not easy to find in first edition. To protect the water-colour paintings, the plates are interleaved with tissue guards, and should not be left open for long periods in strong light. The pollen colours are arranged in sequence according to normal dates of the flowering of plants. There is also a page of hand-coloured samples showing artificially made pollen pellets.
