Item description from seller

First UK edition of the first collaboration between Borges and his close friend Bioy Casares. The work is set in a Buenos Aires prison and focuses on a barber imprisoned for a murder he did not commit. It was first published in Spanish in 1942 and first published in English in America earlier in 1981. Octavo. Original cream quarter cloth, spine lettered in gilt, red board sides. With dust jacket by James McMullan. Cloth and top edge foxed, minor insect damage to edges; jacket unclipped, a few creases, mildly sunned: a very good copy in like jacket.
