First edition, preceding the first American edition by a year, of the final book that Nielsen fully illustrated, in the uncommon dust jacket. Red Magic is the last in a series of three collections of fairy tales arranged by Florence Wilson, using her pseudonym Romer Wilson. The collection includes stories by Robert Southey, Charles Perrault, and Charles Dickens. Octavo. Colour frontispiece and 7 colour plates, 50 full-page illustrations and various vignettes to text, all by Kay Nielsen. Original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt, publisher's device to rear panel in blind, top edge red, bottom edge untrimmed. With dust jacket. Neat contemporary ownership inscription to front free endpaper. Light rubbing to extremities, foxing to edges; jacket unclipped, spine sunned, chipped, closed tear to rear panel: a very good copy in good jacket.
