FIRST EDITION. 4to. (25.5 x 18 cm). pp. xxiv + 787. Contemporary green calf (faded to brown) with gilt regimental crest to front board, spine with gilt lettering and thistle decorations, also in gilt; deep blue endpapers with regimental emblems in gold; top edge gilt. Errata slip included. 46 plates of which 12 are coloured + 15 cuts of uniforms. Some rubbing to hinges and edges, a few small dents to front and back boards; some light intermittent foxing though generally clean and fresh. A very good copy. The first complete account of this ancient regiment. This book details the history, traditions, and uniforms of the Royal Regiment from its first expedition to France in 1590 to the time of writing.
