4to, pp. [6], 26; a very good copy, uncut, in modern wrappers.First edition, the last published work of the clergyman and poet Simon Ford (1618/9-1699), being two sermons preached on the occasion of the performance of penance 'for the late Fornications, and filthy Uncleannesses. that have been committed in this Neighbourhood'. Ford reminds his audience that they are 'liable to the same Temptations, by which others are overtaken', and cautions them to consider 'that though they are no open Adulterers, or Fornicators, yet possibly they are, secretly such, or (if not so, neither yet) common Swearers, or Drunkards, or profane Scoffers at Religion cheating Traders, Exactors, Oppressors, Grinders of the Faces of the Poor '.Wing F1498.
