First edition, two volumes, I: 1803, vii, 276pp, 2pp index; II: 1804, 310pp, 2pp index, 4pp publisher adverts with pencil ticks nect to some titles, engraved title pages and vignettes in each volume, 23 engraved plates of dogs, vignettes in text by Bewick, extra plate, Elevation and Ground Plan of a Dog Kennel, facing p160 of the first volume, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt, other edges untrimmed and rather browned, some foxing to prelims, some pages have a dust mark along the fore edge and some have light coloured stains, half red leather with red cloth, cloth faded and a little frayed in some places, spine has raised bands with gilt decoration and lettering between.
