Item description from seller

James Baker's uncommon 1801 Views First edition, in contemporary half calf over blue marbled boards, corners & edges lightly bumped & worn. Spine, gilt tooling, titles in gilt to red calf label, edges worn. Internally, [3], 4-16, [1], 12-18, [1], 2-48 pp (only), 17 pls (5 coloured strip maps, 6 B&W oblong views, 3 B&W oval views, & 3 B&W portraits), the text leaves are watermarked LEPARD, printed by C Whittingham, for subscribers only, portraits dated 1799, lacking anything beyond p48, occasional light spot, light stain to corner of tp, armorial bookplate to fpd (Benjamin Dickinson Tiverton) and fep (Sambrooke Arthur Higgins Burne). But VG+. (225*136 mm). As with Baker's other productions the publication of this work appears haphazard. The text probably being extracted from the Imperial Guide. This is arranged in separately paginated tours, and is certainly incomplete, as is the case with the texts in this work (see Abbey Scenery 8). The BL copy is also incomplete, whilst COPAC & WorldCat show 4 copies.
