A family copy of the first edition of Church of England clergyman George Hay Drummond's (1761-1807) selection of psalms, inspired by contemporary calls for a 'reformation in the performance of Congregational Psalmody', with the hope that they be 'found worthy to be used in parish churches' and that 'much trouble.be saved to the congregation in seeking in their Prayer- books the different stanzas of a Psalm, as no words are here printed but those which are to be sung'.
