Marbled endpapers, bookplate of the Bath Reference Library to FEP, with their occasional blind-stamps throughout, gutter of initial gathering and head of final gathering damp-stained. Inked inscription to verso of FFEP: 'Edward William Auriol Drummond Hay / March 13. 1791. / The Gift of his Uncle G. W. A. H. D.', inscription to verso of title page: 'Edward William Auriol Drummond Hay / This volume of beautiful selections / from the psalms was given him / by the Author his affectionate Uncle / George William Auriol Hay Drummond / on the 13th. March 1791'. A family copy of the first edition of Church of England clergyman George Hay Drummond's (1761-1807) selection of psalms, inspired by contemporary calls for a 'reformation in the performance of Congregational Psalmody', with the hope that they be 'found worthy to be used in parish churches' and that 'much trouble.be saved to the congregation in seeking in their Prayer- books the different stanzas of a Psalm, as no words are here printed but those which are to be sung'.
