1st ed, Good. In green pictorial cloth, titles in black, some fading and marks, corners bumped. Spine, faded, titles in black, edges bumped. Internally, pencil name to fep, half title, [4], (vii-ix), [1], [1], 2-177 pp, printed by Hazell, Watson & Viney, Ltd, London and Aylesbury. McNeile, published a number of popular books during the war. He took his pseudonym from his army experience, the term 'sapper' being the nickname of the Royal Engineers, whose duties entailed mining and tunnelling under enemy lines. See ODNB.
