Including This famous speech was given at Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri, on 5th March 1946, where Churchill coined the term 'Iron Curtain' and thereby defined the ensuing Cold War period. This important edition published in the year of Churchill's passing includes a new preface by President Truman, who accompanied the PM from Washington to Missouri and introduced the Churchill at Westminster; "Amid his heavy duties and responsibilities the President has travelled a thousand miles to dignify and magnify our meeting here today" began Churchill. Despite the looming Soviet threat and the grave tone of his visit, Churchill eased the audience when he quipped "The name 'Westminster' is somehow familiar to me. I seem to have heard of it before."
