FIRST EDITION. 8vo (23 x 15.5cm). pp. 460. Publisher's blue cloth, gilt title with cenrtal gilt stamped device, spine with gilt lettering, endpapers showing a map of 'The Northern Arab Countries' in 1947 and 1957 respectively. 26 illustrations including frontispiece, plus 28 maps including endpapers and a Hashemite genealogical table. Bookplate of "Kinn Hamilton McIntosh" to first free endpaper, along with an inscription reading: 'Bought at "The Bookshop", Favesham,/ 13th Januray 1982/ George H McDougall,/ Sittingbourne/ Kent.' Daily Telegraph article on Glubb dated '18.3.86' tipped-in to half-title page. Kinn Hamilton McIntosh, known proffessionally as Catherine Aird was an English novelist. Discoloration to first free endpaper, insides otherwise clean and bright. Boards covered with a layer of mylar plastic.
