Complete with 8 colour plates with guards with quoted text, b/w vignettes throughout. Publisher's green cloth binding with gilt lettering and ornamentation. Matching green dust jacket with black lettering and ornamentation. Dust jacket rubbed and chipped with some loss of text at the head and foot of the spine (missing 'The Springtide of Life' at the head, the 'Hei-' of the publisher's name at the foot). The foot of the dust jacket is also torn, 2cm further to the above-mentioned chip, though the detached piece is present and the dust jacket is wrapped in a protective acetate cover. Some browning to endpapers, otherwise a bright copy of the first Rackham-illustrated edition.
