First edition, first printing, of this study of "esoteric secrets" and the mathematics of the Book of Changes (preface), exploring the deeper meaning behind the enigmatic 64 hexagrams. Z. D. Sung (Shen Zhongtao, 1892-1980) worked as a literary editor for the Commercial Press and was an associate of Wang Yunwu. He amassed a library of 32 Song editions and 50 rare works from the Yuan and Ming dynasties, many of which were the only known copy. His donated his library to the National Palace Museum, Taipei. Octavo. Illustrations in text. Original dark red cloth, spine lettered in gilt in English and Chinese. Old bookseller's price stamps on rear endpaper.
