FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. Folio hardback with illustrated flexible paper-covered boards, in matching original dust jacket. Pages unnumbered and printed one side only with handwritten story and colour illustrations by Ardizzone. No previous owners' markings or inscriptions. Board covers very slightly bowed, and edges lightly worn with a few tiny chips. Dust jacket has some areas of loss (please see photos) along with a few closed tears, chips and some foxing/soiling. Overall a VERY GOOD COPY in a SOUND DUST JACKET. Canterbury is close to London (about 1 1/2 hours by train) and only 30 minutes drive from the Channel Tunnel. The Chaucer Bookshop is situated in a beautiful 18th Century building inside Canterbury's city walls. The building was originally one house but was established as a bookshop in 1956. The adjoining property was also later acquired and the bookshop greatly extended. Amongst the wide range of books (on 2 floors) you will find art, architecture, history, English literature, topography, travel, food and wine, railways and many more. We have a variety of original prints and maps for sale and a selection of modern First Editions and fine bindings. We also stock a comprehensive range of Fine Art greetings cards and wrapping paper.
