First edition, 8vo (24 x 19 cm); illustrations throughout, some in colour; original printed wrappers, title in gilt to upper cover, slight wear to edges, spine partially split at bottom, a very good copy. A richly illustrated work dedicated to Talashkino, an artist's colony focusing on the decorative arts which was established in 1893 by Maria Tenisheva. In its workshops, traditional Slavic crafts and techniques were taught and revived. Tenisheva was one of the most important patrons of Russian art at the time and invited her friends, who included Repin, Malyutin, Nesterov, Roerich, Stravinsky and Makovsky all came to work at the estate.
