Add to basketQuarto. 29.5cm. Publisher's decorated cared wraps. 397pp. Very light wear to corners and spine ends, a little scuffing and soiling in places, clean and tight; internally clean and fresh, lavishly illustrated throughout. A very good copy indeed with light wear. A beautifully presented historical, archeological and aesthetically composed examination of the Mogau caves of Dunhuang, also known as the 1000 Buddha Grottoes, in Gansu Province, China. Placed advantageously along the ancient Silk Roads, vital avenues of commerce and exploration, the caves are a wealth of information on the history, personalities and momentous events which took place in the region during the centuries of its ascendance.
