FIRST COLOUR SHEPARD EDITION. 1st printing. Large 8vo. (9.5 x 6.4 inches). Originally published in 1931, Shepard coloured his own line illustrations for this edition. He also at the same time coloured his illustrations for the Winnie the Pooh books of A. A. Milne. A little rubbing and bumping to the board edges but overall a near fine clean copy in publishers tan cloth boards with blind stamped illustration of Toad smoking a cigar to front board. Spine lettered in gilt. Original full colour dustwrapper has just a hint of fading to the spine but is generally bright and clean and with the original price still intact on the front inner flap. Overall a near fine copy. Colour map endapers. A lovely copy of this classic tale. -- More photos available on request. Seller Inventory # 11142
