Here is the ideal book for those who love small boats and particularly those drawing their motive power from the sea breeze. The author/artist was an accomplished small boat sailor and also a noted artist, particularly of bird life. In "Wake" he draws together both areas of expertise with his experiences, observations and encounters on the water blended together through his art. Each of his 16 full colour art plates provides an evocative and atmospheric backdrop for a chapter, furthermore, each chapter is illustrated with his lovely black and white drawings,128 in all. A truely lovely book in words and pictures. 128 pages, map e/papers. Grey hard covers with gilt front/spine titles, impressed front decoration, VG with light wear spine extremities, lower corners. Condition: Good. 1954. First Edition. 127 pages. No dust jacket. Grey cloth boards with gilt lettering. Contains black and white and colour illustrations. Clean pages and illustrations with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pen inscription to half title page. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Gilt lettering is darkened. Minor sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Visible wear marks to boards. Seller Inventory # 1726069881BDB
