15.5 x 11 cm. 16mo. 220pp. Index. Bound into grey cloth, gilt stamped. Frontispiece portrait of the author Charles August Lindbergh Sr. with his son, aviator Charles Augustus Lindbergh, and one other photograph opposite page 197. Previous owner's embossed stamp to title page. Small stain to spine. Rare work. Charles Sr. was a Minnesota congressman for the sixth district and among the leaders of the opposition to America's entry into World War One. This work was published shortly after the US declared war on Germany and Lindbergh blamed an "innner circle" of the most wealthy for pushing the nation into the conflict. President Wilson was so enraged by these writings that he had the plates of this book confiscated and melted down by Government agents. Supposedly, most surviving copies of this work had pages 173-178 criticizing the Catholic, excised. This copy includes them. Reference: Article on MNopedia by Greg Gaut, OCLC # 4960650.
