Wikiland is an artist's book consisting of a tabloid with color photographs and two posters. The ongoing Wikiland project by KK + TF (Klara Kallstrom and Thobias Faldt) hinges on the media depiction of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The tabloid is a reprint of the first edition of Wikiland and deals with the Wikileaks case in spring of 2011. The photographs were taken in Norfolk, England, where Assange had been placed under house arrest, and outside Belmarsh Magistrate's Court in London, on February 24 and 25, 2011. The two posters represent the continuation of the Wikiland project and revolve around the 2010 Wikileaks release of a gun-camera video from July 12, 2007, when civilians and Reuters photographers in Baghdad were gunned down from an Apache helicopter, a video which later came to be known as The Collateral Murder. One poster is a still from that video. Three years later, The Collateral Murder was used in its original form as a narrative element in the 2013 Touchstone/Disney feature film The Fifth Estate. The second poster is a still from the movie--specifically the moment at 00:59:46--with Benedict Cumberbatch playing Assange as "political hero, or antihero" and alluding to "the fictional capability to change tragedies of this kind as the one in Baghdad, into harmless occasions." Cardboard box with gilt-stamped titled and a second title blind-embossed with 6 loose items laid-in: a 32-page, 11.5 x 15-inch tabloid with 29 color plates; a 37.5 x 23.5-inch poster; a 15 x 11.25-inch poster; and three colophon sheets, one for the first edition and two different ones for this edition; all folded, as issued. From a numbered edition limited to 250 copies, this being #176. Photographs by Klara Kallstrom and Thobias Faldt. BOOKS SHIP THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, WRAPPED IN PADDING, IN A BOX.
