Together 14 documents, many of them bifoliums, several with their conjugate leaves, each approx. 19 x 23cm. or larger, the majority folded and addressed to Thomas Adams of Alnwick, with several postally used complete with wax seals, two with seals removed and subsequent loss to one or two letters, together with further related testimonials for candidates, in total nineteen items. This group of documents relates to candidates for positions on the board of the Honourable East India Company. The candidates include Edward Parry (1796), Sir John Jackson (1803), George Millett (1805), William Wigram (1809), Robert Williams (1809), Sir J. H. Pelly (1810 - Pelly later served as Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company), and Robert Clerk (1810-12). The collection also comprises various memos canvassing support from Thomas Adams of Alnwick, composed on behalf of Lord Castlereagh, Mr. Vansittart, James Pattison, and Mr. Sturges Bourne.
