Edwards, and early inked ownership inscription of 'Mr. Tho. Hawkins, Pollet Street, Guernsey', to FEP. The provincially published first edition of a collection of verse doggerel dedicated to 'the Adventurers, Agents & Clerks of the Wheal Vor Consolidated Mines and to Miners, generally, of the County O Cornwall'. Tobias Martin was born in Wendron in 1747, like his father before him, he was a Cornish miner with a predilection for poetry. The poems, predominantly on rustic themes, include: 'Journey to Smelting-House', 'Helston Volunteers', 'Penzance Wrestling', and 'A Petition for Wages'. A second edition was published in 1856.
