In two volumes. 349, [9]; 358pp, [14]. Contemporary speckled calf, contrasting red morocco lettering-pieces. Lightly rubbed and marked, spines chipped at head and foot. Armorial bookplates of Rev. Thomas Greene to FEPs, with his inked ownership inscription to Vol. I title, occasional dampstaining. The Guardian was a short-lived periodical, originally published in 175 daily numbers, London, March 12 to October 1, 1713. It was founded by Richard Steele and featured contributions from Joseph Addison, Thomas Tickell, Alexander Pope and Ambrose Philips. Steele and Addison had previously collaborated on the Tatler and The Spectator. ESTC T97924. Size: 12mo.

We sell fine and rare books from our Wareham shop, in catalogues, and via our website (www.antiquates.co.uk). Specialising in early printed books both English and Continental, fine English Literature, and books by, for, and about Women and Children, we nevertheless stock a wide range of works on paper from 1500-present - including modern first editions. Our bias is towards the unusual, the interesting and the important - and always have a good stock of rare books by local authors such as T.E.
