Original map of Windsor and its environs (76 x 69 cm), drawn and engraved by J. Dower, dissected into 20 sections and mounted onto linen, folding between original gilt-lettered blue cloth covers. Embellished with the Royal Borough of New Windsor Coat of Arms to upper margin along with title. Same publishers advertisement for Walter's Map of Windsor Forest pasted to endpaper. Original hand-colour in outline, parks coloured green. With a map-seller's label to front pastedown reading "Sold by J.B. Brown, Stationer to Her Majesty, Castle Street, Windsor". Generally a very good, clean copy. A rare map of Windsor, OCLC lists just three copies at Cambridge, the National Library of Wales, and the University of Wisconsin. According to Cambridge "John Dower is known to have operated out of Ludgate Street between 1858 and 1860". Seller Inventory # 61504
