Original large engraved plan of mid-Victorian St. Pancras (75 x 160 cm) with contemporary hand-colour in full, laid down on linen in 27 sections, list of Ecclesiastical districts upper left, list of wards with their distinguishing colours lower right, folding between contemporary blue cloth covers with gilt-lettering to upper cover. The highly detailed plan is orientated with north to the right, and extending from the Royal Zoological Gardens, to Euston Station and from Highgate to University College London. Some light toning and smudging, signs of damp-staining to upper cover and verso only (map unaffected), generally a very good attractive copy. Large-scale Victorian plans are particularly rare, and this plan is no exception, with OCLC listing just 2 copies at the British Library (dated 1849) and University College London (dated 1874).
