Fourth Edition, improved and considerably enlarged by the author, 12mo, half-title, xi, [1], 228pp., large folding map of the world as frontispiece, frayed on part of lower margin but not affecting the image, 20 other maps, 5 plates, contemporary sheep, rebacked, a good copy. The plate facing page 34 is a geographical clock with a volvelle (slightly defective) which when turned in a given direction shows the hour of the day in any part of the world. The book, first published in 1780 is dedicated to "the young noblemen and gentlemen educated at Loughborough House School". Provenance: Ink ownership inscription 'Ed Salmon his book 1807, Newark'.
