Original copper engraved map of the Palestine oriented to the east (37 x 42 cm) after William Hole's version of 1614. Issued in an edition of Sir Walter Raleigh's "History of the World" (first published in 1614). Centre-fold crease as issued, generally a very good copy. The map illustrates various military campaigns and movements of tribes in the period covered by the Old Testament. Raleigh's successful but unfinished history ends with the year 130 BC. This map shows Nimrod's Biblical campaings and other movements of people mentioned in Genesis.
