About this Item
4 sides, folded sheet. 20 x 12,5 cm. Autographed signed letter on personalised notepaper with gilt 'EG' crest. Headed 11 Connaught Place W.2 June 26. Writes to the recipient (Lady Wavertree) of the changes in England since the recent coronation - "Things are better in any case just now. And the solid love shown to the King & Queen has given the whole world a sort of sense of security & peace. There is a new wave over the country as if they were turning once more to domestic ideals & 'house' & so on, & you will see a good itme is coming for civilisation. The Simpson affairs & its end has done great good, like a good surgical operation. In short just what we used to call old fashioned 'good' is having it turn once more.". Seller Inventory # 017752
