He coined the headline about Hitler "It's that man again !", taken up by Tommy Handley. Beaverbrook moved him to the Standard in 1944. Later, a fundamental clash emerged - Gunn wanted a popular paper, Beaverbrook something for the City and West End, and in 1952 Gunn resigned.
