Original photographic print, 14 x 20 cm mounted on card, 31 x 24 cm. Photograph of the Chief Te Heu Heu, in a fine cloak, holding a mere. Written in ink below the photograph is Te Heu Heu - Warrior. This is one of a number of photographs that Alfred Burton took during a visit to the region in 1885. A very fine, clean evocative image.The photograph is mounted on a card with a border around the image. Te Heuheu T?kino IV, Horonuku was paramount chief of Ng?ti T?wharetoa, and came from the Tokaanu region by Lake Taupo. On the reverse is a Burton photograph of young Maori women in a hot pool at Tokaanu. Seller Inventory # 019711
