[2], 392pp, [4]. Contemporary gilt-tooled calf, without lettering-piece. Worn, with surface loss to boards, joints split, losses to head and foot of spine. Inked inscription 'Hic liber mihi pertinet' to head of FFEP. Inked ownership inscription of 'Mr Morningford' to head of title. Endpapers browned, otherwise internally clean and crisp. Benedictine monk John Mannock's (1677-1764) The Poor Man's Catechism, a treatise on piety and Christian doctrine. Mannock would compose two subsequent tracts in the same structure, only one of which, 'The Poor Man's Controversy' (London?, 1769), was published posthumously - the second, 'The Poor Man's Companion', can only be found in manuscript form within St. Gregory's College, Downside, near Bath. Size: 8vo.
