Reviews
YA-- A fine source for students who have an interest in the United Service Organization. The book, primarily photographs, is broken down chronologically from the organization's inception in 1941 to its development in boosting troop morale in Desert Storm. Some text precedes each of the chapters so that readers have a view of the establishment of the USO and its subsequent work. The black-and-white photographs are generally large and of good quality; most depict the actual USO tours, but some are of enlisted men and women and serve to capture the flavor of the times. Notably absent is an index, so this cannot be used as a source on past USO performers. A foreword by Bob Hope, written in a humorous tone, offers a nice touch. --Diane Goheen, Topeka West High School, KS
