[6], 258pp, [2]. Near contemporary green half-morocco, marbled boards, lettered in gilt, T.E.G., with original publisher's printed paper wrappers bound in. A trifle rubbed, spine sunned. Marbled endpapers, bookplate of Gladys de Grey to FEP, lightly foxed. Presentation copy, inscribed to half-title; 'a Lady Grey / un respectueux hommage / Maurice Donnay / Decembre 1896'. The first edition of French dramatist Maurice Donnay's (1859-1945) critically acclaimed comedic stage work, first performed in 1895. Lady Gladys de Grey (1859-1917), patron of the arts known for her contribution to opera and the ballet, notable for her association with Nellie Melba and Oscar Wilde. Size: 12mo.
