Forced by the diabolical Senor Tenoch to use her skills as a heart surgeon to harvest human hearts for sale on the black market, Dr. Cassy Baldwin must find a way to free herself and her young son from the clutches of Tenoch

Nearly ten Americans die each day while waiting for a transplant donor to provide a life-saving organ for them.

Dr. Cassy Baldwin, a young heart surgeon and divorced mother, has established herself as an internationally acclaimed professional woman in Dallas. But in the process, her personal life has crumbled into a failed marriage. Casting aside her high profile surgical career, Cassy takes the position as Director of the Dallas Metropolitan Hospital Emergency Roon to allow her more time with Alex, her emotionally troubled eight-year old son.

On Memorial Day weekend in Dallas their lives erupt into even greater turmoil when Senor Marquez, one of Cassy's ER patients, revives in the ER morgue three hours after she has mistakenly pronounced him dead with her diagnosis of a fatal heart attack. In an effort to regain her professional reputation as well as her ER directorship in the aftermath of her much publicized erroneous diagnosis, Cassy searches for an explanation for Senor Marquez's return from apparent death. Her discovery of the horrifying truth behind her patient's resurrection sweeps her and her son into a nightmarish web of an international black market in transplant organs, headed by the powerful, enigmatic Senor Tenoch, an extravagantly wealthy entrepeneur of Aztec descent.

Tenoch traps Cassy and Alex in a terrifying, hopeless dilemma. Unless Cassy agrees to use her skills as a heart surgeon to implement Senor Tenoch's murderous scheme to harvest and sell human hearts for transplantation, she and Alex will become organ donors in his international black market.

Held prisoner in Tenoch's palatial Mexico City penthouse, Cassy confronts the deadly torment of Tenoch's Aztec psychosis with her own seductive plan to destroy Tenoch's diabolical enterprise. The suspensful plot reaches across international borders and cultures with soul-searching demands on Cassy as a surgeon and mother.

Mixing the suspense of a John Grisham legal thriller with the medical intrigue of a Robin Cook novel, Darryl Fisher has created a page-turning story of an utterly convincing glimpse into the chilling world where body organs are bought and sold on demand. Moving back and forth between Mexico City, Dallas and the ancient Mexican ruins of Teoithuacan, the vividly portrayed characters emerge into a rarefied atmosphere of escalating tension toward the twisting climax. -- Publisher-Quill Press
