Rebound in modern, half dark brown leather over marbled boards. new endpapers. Signed Presentation inscription to the first free endpaper, which is toned. Half-title present. McCallum's narrative of road trip from the British Legation Compound in Peking to his house in Chelsea in 1927. The route took him 15,200 miles "through Indo-China, down the coast of Annam, via Cambodia, Siam and Malaya to India, along the Grand Trunk Road, through the Baluchistan Desert to Persia, Iraq, and Syria, and across Europe from Constantinople". Narration accompanied by large number of photographs taken by the author and various maps by W.L. Browne. A handsome copy. Seller Inventory # 19266
