About this Item

Pughe's very rare and curious History of the Welsh language written in his own invented idiosyncratic orthography. In the original quarter paper over blue marbled boards, corners & edges bumped & worn. Spine, worn, some paper loss, no title. Internally, [3], 4-87 pp, edges uncut, paper watermarked 1807. With inscription to fep from author to W. Herbert in 1818, then another gift note from Rev E Herbert to Rev DL davies in 1884, some light spotting & offsetting, evidence of bookplate removal to fpd. (195*126 mm). (Libri Walliae 4183). OCLC locate 5 in Wales none at the BL or in the US. A very good copy in original boards of a very rare book.
