First UK Edition. Publisher's black boards with red spine lettering. VG indeed in like D/W with a slither of wear at the spine tips. Inscribed by the Author on the front free end-paper: "Pour/ Karin Antonini/ from/ Ambrose Grant & James Hadley Chase". Rare hardcover first edition in dust wrapper. Great cover art by Dorothy Craigie. This is a tale of Soho gangster life. The book was written by James Hadley Chase using the pseudonym Ambrose Grant although there have been many suggestions over the years that it was a collaborative effort with Graham Greene. An interesting item, scarce in wrapper, especially inscribed by the author.
