E Brownson from Hugh MacDiarmid, Glasgow 1943" on the front free endpaper. This early poem by MacDiarmid was the central masterpiece of Scottish modernism. Octavo. Original dark blue cloth, spine and front cover lettered in gilt, double rule border in blind to front cover enclosing gilt vignette. With dust jacket. A near-fine copy, some trivial spotting to fore-edge, the jacket a little sunned to spine panel, and minimally nicked at ends and corners.
